HEALTHCARE SCIENCE WEEK

Richard

As Principal Performance Director, my role involves leading a team of Performance Directors on projects focused on customer engagement capabilities. These can be with commercial teams such as KAMs, sales representatives or with medical teams such as MSLs or Medical Affairs Managers. We also work on building leadership, management and coaching capabilities for line managers.

The importance of my role for healthcare science depends on achieving the above. If we get this right and build/develop such capabilities, the quality of client company teams’ engagement with healthcare professionals is better, making better use of their time with higher quality engagement and discussion around the relevant disease area or product, which ultimately leads to improvement in healthcare and the quality of patients’ lives.

Fiona

I am the Principal Training Consultant at Ashfield Excellence Academy. My role involves leading the Pharma Marketing Academy team and liaising with clients to develop and deliver marketing capability assessment, training and consultancy.

Effective healthcare marketing is essential to ensuring that healthcare professionals are equipped to prescribe the optimum treatment for their patients. We work with pharma companies to upskill their marketers and drive marketing excellence through the organisation.

Paula

My role is Training Manager. I work with clients to design and develop marketing capability training using adult learning principles and effective instructional design.

This is important in healthcare science, as good pharma marketing skills can help to ensure the right patient can get the right treatment at the right time. Good marketing insights can also help researchers and clinicians understand the real needs of patients and the healthcare system.

Tony

As one of the Performance Consultants at AEA, my role is to enable pharma industry professionals and their managers to breathe life into scientific data so that it provides context, meaning and value to their customers.

My role involves a lot of reading! I need to understand the challenge, the science and the customer’s goal or objective. Only then can I choose the most appropriate neurological, psychological, behavioural or leadership route to bring all these strands together. Then it’s a lot of writing. It’s my job to find the sweet spot that enables others to make a difference, and then sometimes it’s training delivery. That’s the bit I enjoy the most.

While I’m not creating healthcare science, I’m proud to be a part of the team that helps the people who benefit the most: the patients and their families.

Tom

My role is Scientific Project Lead. My day-to-day responsibilities involve leading projects in the disease area and product training side, and helping to support and mentor members of the writing team.

My input helps AEA to produce high-quality training solutions for its clients, which in turn allows the individuals within those pharmaceutical companies to have valuable and meaningful conversations with HCPs that ultimately lead to improved patient care.

Sam

I am one of the Senior Pharmaceutical Training Writers at AEA. My day-to-day role is centred around developing new, engaging scientific training materials for our clients in the pharmaceutical industry. A typical day for me may involve writing new content for project work, attending client meetings, putting together proposals for new work and working closely with my colleagues on the editorial team to solve problems and ensure project deadlines are met.

Our focus is on improving the knowledge and understanding of our learners to allow them to hold more informed and insightful conversations with healthcare professionals. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the communication of new clinical data and scientific advances in a way that leads to real improvements to the lives of patients and their caregivers.

Millie

I work as an Editorial Assistant at AEA. On a day-to-day basis, I work particularly closely with my fellow editorial assistants to quality check, proofread and edit a broad range of content, such as proposals, slide decks, videos, scripts, iPDFs, eLearns and more!

As an editorial assistant, ensuring accuracy when managing data from drug trials is incredibly important. AEA always encourages, supports and enables full critical analysis of data in order to provide the best possible treatment for patients. Being an editorial assistant at Ashfield Excellence Academy is to play an important role in providing healthcare science that you can trust.

Pete

I am an AEA Project Co-ordinator. I have two main responsibilities: one at the beginning stages of the process (working with the content creators) and one at the concluding stages (working with media and proofing in the support team).

My role involves organising the support team resource and ensuring we meet deadlines as needed by our content creators. My other main responsibility is to assist with project management tasks and look at longer-term project deadlines. This includes working with the finance teams to manage budget, as well as working with the writing team to manage resource.

My role contributes to the wider picture, as I ensure training goes smoothly and that deadlines are met, ultimately helping to get the right people trained so that patients can receive what they require faster and more efficiently.

Brendan

My role is AEA’s Creative Director. I spend a portion of my time providing robust creative solutions for our clients and our own internal marketing materials. This includes animations, iPDFs, games, rich emails, eLearns and everything in between. The other half of my time is spent managing and mentoring our talented media team, ensuring they have the support and guidance they need to produce their best work and achieve their own personal development goals.

My role and passion is all about communication and user experience. My strength is asking the pertinent questions needed to help distil a sound brief, understand the bigger strategic picture and capture client objectives. I’d like to think that my tenacity and creative prowess motivates us to achieve excellence in communication, deliver on client objectives and in some way ultimately lead to helping patients receive the best treatment.

Liz

I am the Office Support Manager at AEA. My day-to-day responsibilities are providing logistical support for training programmes and management of client projects including status updates, finance, uploading of materials, and managing the travel and office admin for the team.

By providing the logistical and project management support to clients, they are able to effectively manage the training rollout on their side, which ultimately links back to their team learning and being able to provide patients with the best treatment.

Pete

I’m Editorial Director at Ashfield Excellence Academy. I lead the editorial team at Pharma Knowledge Academy, the disease and product training division of the business, partnering with our healthcare clients to design and develop a range of disease and product blended-learning solutions tailored to the training need.

Our input helps to provide robust, tailored training solutions for our pharmaceutical clients to enhance the scientific knowledge, skills and performance of their customer-facing teams. Ultimately, by ensuring excellence in training, we help contribute to driving meaningful scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, with an end goal of improving patient care.
